Expert Report Review

Independent professional review of court-appointed and privately commissioned expert reports for lawyers, companies and parties to disputes.

What is an expert report review?

An expert report review is an independent professional analysis of an expert opinion that has already been prepared.

It does not replace a new expert examination. Its purpose is to assess whether the report is properly reasoned, identify methodological, factual and calculation deficiencies, and determine whether they could affect the final conclusions.

Reports we review

  • court-appointed and privately commissioned construction expert reports;
  • reports on construction and repair quality;
  • assessments of completed work volumes and costs;
  • technical condition reports for buildings and structures;
  • reports concerning causes of defects, damage and structural failure;
  • damage and reinstatement cost assessments;
  • cost estimates and design-related opinions;
  • supplementary and repeat expert examinations.

What we examine

  • the expert’s competence and scope of expertise;
  • whether the examination addresses the questions asked;
  • the completeness of documents and source data;
  • the methods and technical standards applied;
  • the accuracy and reproducibility of calculations;
  • whether the conclusions follow from the research;
  • internal contradictions and unsupported statements;
  • the effect of identified deficiencies on the conclusions.

For lawyers and law firms

We help lawyers assess the evidential value of an expert report and prepare a technical position for construction, property, insurance and contractual disputes.

The review may support written objections, questions for examination of the expert, and applications for a supplementary or repeat expert examination.

When a review may be required

  • the conclusions conflict with the case materials;
  • important documents or parts of the property were not examined;
  • calculations cannot be checked or reproduced;
  • the expert did not answer all questions;
  • the report contains internal contradictions;
  • unsupported source data were used;
  • the expert exceeded the scope of their competence;
  • a supplementary or repeat expert examination must be justified.

Result
